We coated the VCT flooring in the "belly" of the house this weekend and it was no small task.

I spent a good part of a very hot Monday putting a final finish on the garage floor and did some tests on reviving the previously coated kitchen floor… with good results.

We like the new floor install in the garage, but it didn't come without a bit of a dark — or in this case, dusty — side.
We hired out the job specifically because we didn't want to get involved with a lot of the "dirty work" so to speak… and we certainly paid for it: at $4.50 a foot (installed) for tile that costs 75c a foot (material).
When we came home, we were amazed by the transformation (read: happy), but when we looked closer, it was quite apparent that we still had a lot of work to do cleaning up after the install.

A while back, Stephen and Katrine stopped by to shoot some pictures and video at the house. They've finished a final edit of the video and have posted it to their site. Check it out:
Wow, what a transformation… while this is likely the cleanest the
garage will ever be, it's nice to have this last bit finished off.
Our
friend Bret said that we can't say "finished" until we paint the blue
ceiling (the garage used to be split into 2 bedrooms). TJ stopped by this week to help with the ceiling, beams and a few odd bits… so Bret here you go:

My friend Michael — a fellow Eichler owner in Marin — is (sadly — and hopefully temporarily) moving to New York in a few weeks and he’s having a blow-out moving sale. Michael is the creative lead of a well-known modern furniture retailer, so you know he has some good stuff. Below are the details.
Hi Everyone,
Iris and I are finally having our big sale after collecting all of our stuff in our friends photo studio in San Rafael over the past few months. Every thing must go from a brand new (still in the box) Blu Dot table to vintage Paul McCobb chairs and from Bicycles (and gear) to children’s clothing and toys. You name, we have it. We also have a lot of great things for art students. The address is:
The Vinyards
4312 Redwood Hwy
#200 (the entrance will be in the back of the building – follow the signs)
San Rafael, CA 94903
415.608.9252
The location is about 45 minutes from San Francisco or the East Bay. Click here for the Google Map.

One of the nice things about bringing the renovation to a close is that we can begin to purge… and the Rancho Del Diablo Neighborhood Yard Sale is a great chance to do this…
We've already got piles and piles of stuff, so make sure to stop by Saturday… Casie will also have all of ModApple out on display and 20% off both regular and sale prices.
Casie has just put a lot of items on sale at ModApple in preparation for our blow-out yard sale.
In addition to simply great deals on sale items, next Saturday, everything at the yard sale* will be an additional 20% off of the regular price (sale and non-sale alike)… so make sure to stop by, and save big — off the list price and no shipping costs (since you'll be taking it home).
And if you're shopping from afar, make sure shop early because you're favorite items might disappear quickly — especially Saturday.
(*Discounts can't be applied to web-purchases — sorry… So make sure to stop by!)
The new DWR catalog is here… and it features a few shots taken a few weeks ago. It was an incredibly positive experience and I hope they’ll come back one day.

Rancho Del Diablo is having a neighborhood yard sale:
…stop by for lots of goodies.
Us? I'll have things like:
After 3 years, the renovation is coming to a close and I just don't need a Sawz-all… (which is a good thing, by the way).
All tools are 3 years old or less… some have seen minimal use… and all at a great deal. While they're not stupid-cheap, everything will be priced fairly — at least 50% off of new-retail.
Casie will also be selling and previewing stuff from her ModApple store, so there's lots of neat, vintage housewares in hand.
