The yard is full of trees… likely too many for such a small lot and we’ll have to cut many of them down (especially the ones that had been "topped" by an idiot trimmer). Not to worry, the "signature" trees are staying.
We’ve been able to ID most of them: Silver-dollar eucalyptus, Fig (yummy), Mimosa, Mulberry, Oleander (technically a shrub, but these are as large as trees…)… but there are a few that have stumped us.
There’s a massive, beautiful tree in the back corner of the lot now covered with red berries… and a smaller, almost olive-looking tree now bearing weird fruit.
Any ideas?
The weird green fruit by the master bedroom door is pineapple guava and, yes, they are edible. Kind of reminded me of a kiwi type fruit – don’t eat the skin.

the tree in the corner of the yard (my favorite too) is a [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schinus_molle]Pepper Tree[/url], the weird tree is a pineapple guava. The apple tree by the master bedroom is a Gravenstein apple tree, makes for great applesauce. And on the other side of the fig tree is a green gage plum tree, the fruit is ripe when they are a translucent golden color.

Tom is right, the weeping tree with the red peppercorns, is a California Pepper tree. We have a few in back too. Your’s is a female. Twice a year, (one of which is now) she’ll rain a thick blanket of pollen-ie flower bits down all over everything. But it smells great when you vacuum it into your mulcher and hums with bees in the Summer. It’s my favorite too, and worth the maintenance. I’m not sure if the peppercorns are safe to eat though, -I did some light googling, but results were inconclusive.
