Eichler Eclectic

Our friends Chris and Steve have an amazing home that's 180deg from our own (and make sure to head over to Designsponge to see this house featured again).

Chris is a visual designer who's spent time at Esprit, Gap and Eddie Bauer — she's now at Athleta in Petaluma. Steve is a entrepreneur and race-car enthusiast and together, they'e created a masterpiece of eclecticism in Upper Lucas Valley (Marin County, CA).

Their first year in the house saw extensive renovations that included new pebbled flooring, a revamped kitchen with a multi-patterned cabinet design and the creation of an expansive mater bath and dressing room. Added to all of this is Chris' life-long collection of crafts, art and ephemera.

In a space like this, there's really only one word to describe it: Wow! Take a look.

  1. hello there. i’m curious about how they did those floors. any chance you could forward my info to the homeowner? i’m especially interested in how they did the “whitewash” effect. the stones themselves don’t appear to be white. any help would be greatly appreciated.
great photos/documentation. saw this on design*sponge.

  2. the stones are indeed white (with white grout). i believe chris responded to a similar question on d*s (“stratastones.net is where we got the river rocks for the floor.”)
