Tom’s Closet Helper

Tom and his family live in an Edwardian flat in San Francisco. As older homes go, closet space is at a premium. Tom wanted something that would help in that regard.

"My underwear will be sooo happy!" — Tom

We designed a custom 2X2 with an extra shelf. Also, because of the high baseboards and other concerns, we made the legs a good bit taller than usual (6in). This might also serve later as a handy place to stash shoes…

The CSSU-LP1 + LP2 vinyl storage bench and tower (+ pricing)

In addition to the Integrated CSSU (with built-in speakers), we're seeing a lot of possibilities in the realm of AV and media storage solutions — the latest is the CSSU-LP series — the LP1 and LP2… a shelving unit system designed specifically around the storage of 12in vinyl records.

David’s New(est) Shelves: In Process

It's great to have return customers in the custom furniture world — it's a bit of validation that you're doing something right. Even better is when the customer is remote and trusts your process from afar.

David's shelves were one of our first orders and the first to be packed up and shipped away. He contacted me a few weeks ago about an order and — once the queue cleared a bit — we were able to get it going. He's anxious to get it before Thanksgiving, so I'm shooting this early — two of the color panels are still curing. The hope is to give it a final buffing (which gives the shelves their soft, matte finish) and get it crated tonight and off to him this week. These are big ones… 92in long (very similar to John's without the doors).

John’s New Shelves

We've been a bit quiet here, but not because we've not been busy. Over in the RedneckModern world, I'm about to detail a project that took a few months to complete.

In the meantime, John contacted me about some storage needs for his new place. He was in search of a set of large shelves with doors to hide the mess. He dropped me a line and in a few weeks, we had this ready. It's 92in long, 32in high and 18in deep… a big one. It's walnut/walnut… one of my new favorite combos as it acheives a very luxe look for a bit less than the colored panels (it takes one less step to finish).

Installation tip

When assembling the CSSU and the installation will be a permanent one, a small bit of adhesive caulk — either clear acrylic (easy water clean up) or silicone (careful alcohol cleanup) can help to secure the feet to the legs. Also a small bit inside each screw hole — both on the feet and on the shelves — will improve the bite and hold of the screws.
