{"id":4648,"date":"2007-09-17T17:58:04","date_gmt":"2007-09-17T17:58:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hunterwimmer.com\/redneckmodern\/2007\/09\/17\/ac-install-day\/"},"modified":"2007-09-17T17:58:04","modified_gmt":"2007-09-17T17:58:04","slug":"ac-install-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hunterwimmer.com\/redneckmodern\/2007\/09\/17\/ac-install-day\/","title":{"rendered":"AC install \/\/ Day One"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It took a few days longer than expected to get the crew here, but at 8AM Monday morning, two crews showed up from the HVAC shop to begin the install of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lge.com\/products\/category\/list\/home%20appliances_air%20conditioner_art%20cool.jhtml\">LG Art Cool system<\/a>&#8230; seemingly a new creature at the zoo.<\/p>\n<p>Most HVAC folks seem to have knowledge &#8212; even deep experience &#8212; installing mini-split systems, but the LG system is new to all. Hopefully, after this install, the units will become popular. To be honest, I can&#039;t imagine going through all of the trouble to install a mini-split and still have an appliance that <a href=\"http:\/\/i-cdn.apartmenttherapy.com\/uimages\/ny\/6-13-slim1.jpg\" target=\"_self\">looks like the front half of a typical window unit sitting in my living space.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Anyway, below are the first round of pix&#8230; since final images necessitate painting and drywall mud (a luxury when the bathroom walls are still sticky from wallpaper removal), these final images might be a long time in coming.<\/p>\n<p>Total cost on the install (36000 BTUs of heating and cooling) should run about $15K installed, tested and complete. The total calculation for the house was 48000 BTUs, so this should put a big dent in our needs.<\/p>\n<p>These images show the &quot;during&quot; install phase. The lines for the multipurpose room unit had to be run outside the wall in the garage due to some overhead, interfering power lines &#8212; this will eventually be boxed in in some fashion.
