If you&#039;re in the market for a new door in the East Bay area, drop me a line&#8230; soup-to-nuts, these run about $900-1000 installed (depending on options) provided there&#039;s not a ton of reconstruction to do on the jamb).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"D1\" class=\"asset  asset-image at-xid-6a00d8345166b769e20177437e7065970d\" src=\"\/redneckmodern\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/6a00d8345166b769e20177437e7065970d-400wi.jpg\" style=\"width: 364px\" title=\"D1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nThis time, the knob was defective and would not release the key (and the 5in backset was for a different lock). However, since I&#039;ve installed a few and have a line to the vendor, a quick email had things sorted out and a replacement arrived the next day at no charge to Glen + Molly. So&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lesson #1: When you find a good vendor, stick with them.<\/li>\n<li>Lesson #2: It helps to know what you&#039;re looking at&#8230; Had Glen attempted it himself (while a skilled handyman himself), he&#039;d have stared at it for hours trying to get the defective part to work. Since I&#039;ve installed quite a few, it was apparent in a few minutes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Molly picked the Behr color &quot;Yucca&quot; for the front door to coordinate with the current house color and the pending new color. Again, we used Behr&#039;s Ultra Exterior (flat). While I&#039;m generally not a huge fan of Behr paints, they&#039;re readily available and this particular formulation rolls on really, really well &#8212; smooth and no orange peel.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lesson #3: When something works, stick with it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"D2\" class=\"asset  asset-image at-xid-6a00d8345166b769e2017616923b97970c\" src=\"\/redneckmodern\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/6a00d8345166b769e2017616923b97970c-400wi.jpg\" style=\"width: 364px\" title=\"D2\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"D4\" class=\"asset  asset-image at-xid-6a00d8345166b769e20167689d468c970b\" src=\"\/redneckmodern\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/6a00d8345166b769e20167689d468c970b-400wi.jpg\" style=\"width: 364px\" title=\"D4\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Another neat thing: the buzzer still works!
