In the meantime, there are still quite a few projects to finish off and there&#039;s a good bit of overlap in the two worlds \u2014 namely in the world of materials.<\/p>\n<p>One of the materials I&#039;ve been using in the renovation is a wood-plastic composite from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calibamboo.com\/\">CaliBamboo<\/a> called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calibamboo.com\/composite-decking.html\">BamDeck<\/a>. What first struck me about the products is that it is the only product of its type that is not grained to look like wood. It has always seemed odd to me that folks would take plastic and imprint a wood grain on it. The BamDeck material is striated like broom-finished concrete and is quite nice. It&#039;s also workable with Carbide-tipped tools and takes to machining fairly well.<\/p>\n<p>So far, I&#039;ve used it to mill a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redneckmodern.com\/2016\/06\/mendis-dutch-door-preview.html\">post stand-off<\/a> for Mendi&#039;s door, topped a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redneckmodern.com\/2016\/06\/side-deck-and-new-uses-for-calibamboos-bamdeck.html\">retaining wall<\/a> and used it for its intended purpose: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redneckmodern.com\/2016\/05\/on-deck-calibamboo-bamdeck-camo-marksman.html\">decking<\/a>&#8230; all with fantastic results.
