Like many, we replaced more than just the door. The post needed to be resecured and there was a good bit of adjacent refining. The best part was the color&#8230; Check it out.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Door\" border=\"0\" class=\"asset  asset-image at-xid-6a00d8345166b769e2026bdedb720a200c image-full img-responsive\" src=\"\/norcalmod\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/09\/6a00d8345166b769e2026bdedb720a200c-800wi.jpg\" title=\"Door\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When looking at the Norcalmod \/ Redneckmodern \/ Cyanovox \/ MicroEichler \/ EichlerStencil world, I either need another world&#8230; or I need to keep more of the renovaiton stuff over here (and the work on <em><strong>my<\/strong><\/em> house at Redneckmodern). In lieu of creating yet another universe, I&#8217;ll keep the Eichler door stuff over here especially since they&#8217;ve become so prevalent \u2014 but they&#8217;ll get their own category.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"B9B8D95C-34E3-452B-9E70-E417D5987D7C\" border=\"0\" class=\"asset  asset-image at-xid-6a00d8345166b769e2026bdedb72a5200c image-full img-responsive\" src=\"\/norcalmod\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/09\/6a00d8345166b769e2026bdedb72a5200c-800wi.jpg\" title=\"B9B8D95C-34E3-452B-9E70-E417D5987D7C\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->\n<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, like many of these, I forgot to get the &#8220;before&#8221; and jumped right in on the project \u2014 it was a terrible lime green paneled door that didn&#8217;t close properly. This is a definite upgrade.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_2183\" border=\"0\" class=\"asset  asset-image at-xid-6a00d8345166b769e2026bdedb7416200c image-full img-responsive\" src=\"\/norcalmod\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/09\/6a00d8345166b769e2026bdedb7416200c-800wi.jpg\" title=\"IMG_2183\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;color: #8b8b8b\">[Lock locations get the same fill\/re-drill treatment which makes for a better-fitting door.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_2217\" border=\"0\" class=\"asset  asset-image at-xid-6a00d8345166b769e20282e10bc128200b image-full img-responsive\" src=\"\/norcalmod\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/09\/6a00d8345166b769e20282e10bc128200b-800wi.jpg\" title=\"IMG_2217\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>This comes up a lot in the Eichler DIY community*:<\/strong> After a few dozen replacements, I&#8217;ve found what works \u2014 and doesn&#8217;t&#8230; and it took a lot of time, trial, and error. I&#8217;ve not found an off-the-shelf &#8220;kit&#8221; that works well, so I assembled my own. I work with a locksmith to assemble commercial-grade parts that match (i.e.: locks keyed the same) and orient the lock on-site so that the keyway faces the right direction \u2014 as-is, you&#8217;ve only a 50% chance that you lock will be correct. I promised my locksmith that I&#8217;d not give out his name \u2014 he&#8217;d prefer to deal with one person than dozens. Instead, I have assembled a ready-to-purchase kit of my own \u2014 if you&#8217;d like to purchase, hit me up. There&#8217;s no profit here (maybe there should be), but these parts are already bonkers-expensive \u2014 the proper backset adapter alone is nearly $100.<\/p>\n<p>(*There are lots of folks that have advice.
